Hello Day Dreamers. I hope your week is off to a great start. We got hit with two feet of snow last week, and according to the forecast we will get another six inches tonight, and then again Thursday night. Can you say CABIN FEVER? With all the snow, and being stuck in the house, I have been on a non-stop hunt trying to find creative ways to keep the family busy. I was beyond excited when I found Wreck This Journal, by Keri Smith. It is filled with 100 plus tasks that push you out of your comfort zone, or encourages you to do something you otherwise wouldn’t. Like this one

How about a paper chain? I had not made one of those since I was a kid

and had forgotten all about them until Wreck This Journal.

That would be Emily trying to complete the, Pick Up The Journal Without Using Your Hands, task.

This will be the first task we complete once the warm weather arrives.

Some other task included in Wreck Your Journal
-doodle over the top of the cover, the title page, the instructions, the copyright page, and fold down the corners of your favorite pages
-cover this page with white things
-pour, spill, drip, spit, fling your coffee on this page
-take the journal into the shower with you
-this page is a sign, what do you want it to say?
-find a way to wear the journal
-find a way to freeze this page
-tie a string to the spine and swing wildly against the walls
-fill this page with circles
-eat some colorful candy and lick this page

The journal also ask you to collect things such as stamps, stickers found on fruit, and white things. Each page leaves space for you to smash those things on.

Wreck This Journal has been a sanity savor, and has provided hours of fun for our entire family. I must admit that initially I purchased the journal to keep Emily entertained, however, the older kids 16 and 18, and yes even us grown-ups (omits ages) have quickly become addicted.

What do you and your family do to keep busy during the long winter months? What is the first thing you are planning to do when Spring arrives?
