Hello fitness friends! Today I am sharing a few of my favorite exercise equipment items that can be used in your home.

One question I get asked a lot, from those of you who are just starting their fitness journey, is what is the best exercise equipment for beginners. These are not only perfect for the beginner, but can be used at any fitness level. In addition, they are very versatile, and provide a powerful workout, with effective results. The best thing is they are very affordable.

When I started my fitness journey the Total Body Balance Ball was the first piece of exercise equipment I purchased. At that time, I was 100 lbs over weight, and was completely out of shape. I slowly started using the Total Body Balance Ball, with ease, by sitting on it to help with my posture, and to engage my core. Once I was comfortable with that I advanced on to other exercises. I found the DVD’s in the Gaiam Total Body Balance Ball kit very helpful when learning the different exercises that can be performed with the ball. The DVD’s are very easy to follow along with, include full body work outs, which target all major muscle groups, and are suitable for the beginner and the advanced.

Next up are Resistance Bands. Resistance bands are effective in building strength and toning to your muscles. One of the things I love about resistance bands is they are available at different resistances. This makes it very easy to start low, and slow, and advance as you become comfortable. There are countless exercises you can do with resistance bands, such as ones that target specific muscles, or an entire body work out. The GOFIT Ultimate ProGym is my favorite, and comes complete with The Gofit Ultimate  3 different level resistance tubes, 2 handles, 2 ankle straps, 1 door anchor, training manual, training DVD, and nylon carry bag.

Free weights are one of the most popular  fitness equipment used to tone, strengthen and build muscle. The weight you need will depend on the group of muscles you are targeting. For instance, if you are doing a tricep kick back, you will be using less weight, than if you were performing squats. Be sure to find the weight that is comfortable for you, and enables you to keep your correct form.
